The “Dickman Award for Dissertation Research,” provided by Drs. Paul and Frances Baker Dickman, is intended to help doctoral students do research in the field for their dissertations.
Candidates should provide a summary of their dissertation research, including specification on how these funds will be used to enhance their ability to collect and analyze data. The award will be managed by the Department of Criminology, Law, and Society, and is available to Criminology, Law, and Society doctoral students. Applications will be accepted and selection of recipients will take place by the spring quarter of each year.
Frances Baker Dickman, Ph.D., ’79 is the very first student to receive a doctorate in Social Ecology at UCI. As a doctoral student, she received a similar fellowship that was instrumental in allowing her to collect data for her dissertation. She went on to receive a J.D. from West Virginia University. Both she and Paul have generously supported this award since 2014.
