CLS Professors Carroll Seron, Charis E. Kubrin, and Emerita Professor Joan Petersilia have recently published an op-ed article in the Washington Post entitled, "Releasing low-level offenders did not unleash a crime wave in California". In the article they discuss the effects of the somewhat controversial Public Safety Realignment Act, and the effect that has been seen on violent crime since 2011, when California embarked on a massive experiment in prison downsizing.
